Thank you for checking our our blog in more detail. We will be putting up more information in the coming days and weeks regarding the ins-and outs of maintaining your Sprintex Supercharger system.
We will start with the most common user installation mistake we deal with–the torn map sensor o-ring. This is very easy to miss because the error is very hard to see or feel. Experienced mechanics know to lubricate o-rings with a little bit of oil or petroleum jelly. For the first timer, this can be a frustrating part of the learning curve that is easy to fix.
This is Jon Schaefer’s video from RPM Extreme on how to diagnose the map sensor o-ring quickly and easily. Start up the vehicle and let it idle. Spray some carb cleaner or brake clean at the base of the sensor and listen for a change in the idle. If the idle fluctuates, then you have a torn o-ring OR a little bit of dirt on the hole. This can cause P0300 (cylinder misfire) as well as P0108 (map sensor high input.)
That hole is chamfered so as not to tear that o-ring. However, not lubing the o-ring and pressing it straight in makes the tear. Lube the o-ring and gently turn it counter-clock wise until you feel it “pulled” into the hole.
Stay tuned as we add more information to help you get the most out of your Sprintex Supercharger System.
